The Heart of Madeira

Our epic adventure continues in Madeira as we take on Madeira’s iconic Levadas which are a series of ancient aqueducts along the cliffs and mountains of Madeira and no visit to the island is complete without going on a Levada walk for amazing panoramic views over this magical island. Our second activity of the day is Canyoning. An adventurous activity that combines Hiking, Scrambling, Swimming and Rappelling all in one great activity to explore deep canyons and gorges through a series of hidden waterfalls in a lush environment.

The Azores

Today we move to our next chapter of our adventure by flying to Ponta Delgada, the capital of Sao Miguel island, the largest island in the Azores archipelago. Pickup from the airport, transfer to the hotel and spend the day exploring the surroundings or go for a walk to the Marina and Portas do Mar to enjoy its famous restaurants and bars.

The Lagoon of Fire

Our adventure on the Azores starts by hiking to the island’s most beautiful lake known as the Lagoa do Fogo or the Lagoon of Fire. It’s a crater lake at the center of Sao Miguel Island and it occupies the bottom of a collapsed caldera. The lake is surrounded by lush vegetation which makes this hike one of the most scenic on the Azores and whole of Europe. After our hike, we will drive to the Hot Springs at CaldeiraVelha, located on the northern slope of the Fogo Volcano then drive back to our hotel.

The Twin Lakes

Sao Miguel island is also known as ‘The Green Island’ which is no surprise for the outstanding beauty of this island waiting to be explored. After our breakfast, we will drive to explore the western part of the island and the stunning Lagoa das SeteCidades or the Lagoon of the seven cities. It’s a beautiful twin lake situated in the crater of a dormant volcano with a legendary story. After the hike, we will drive along the south coast and stop at Ponta da Ferraria for a swim in a beautiful ocean bathing area, where the salt water is heated inside a volcanic fissure.

To Algarve

Our third and final chapter on our adventure in Portugal will take us to Algarve region in southern Portugal. First we will fly to Lisbon, pickup at the airport and drive directly to Lagos. After check-in we will go on a cliff walk to Ponta de Piedade, along the fascinating coastline of western Algarve, it is considered as the finest natural feature in the region, with the cliffs of the headland carved into rock pillars, natural tunnels and hidden grottos. We will finish our walk at the beautiful beach of Praia Dona Ana, one of the world’s most beautiful beaches.

The Seven Hanging Valleys

Early breakfast then drive to Sagres to visit Cape St. Vincent, the southwesternmost tip of Europe which is also known as ‘The End of the World’ as here is where Portuguese explorers set sail into the unknown during the age of discovery. Afterwards we will drive to Praia da Marinha to hike the amazing Seven Hanging Valleys trail along the coastal cliffs of Algarve. We will also stop at Benagil beach and swim into its famous cave for another beautiful beach in Algarve region.

Surfing the Atlantic

No visit to Portugal is complete without trying to surf the Atlantic waves. After breakfast we will hop on our vans and drive to the wild west coast of Algarve for a full day of surfing lessons where we get to learn how to stand on the board and conquer the Atlantic waves.

Breakfast then drive to Lisbon and spend the day exploring the beautiful capital of Portugal.
